Welcome to my website, GYM, dedicated to motivational stories of people that got up off the couch and got moving. My goal for this site is to find people's stories that would motivate us to lose those unwanted pounds, gain muscle tone, and improve our overall health and appearance. Hopefully you'll be inspired and become addicted to our stories about normal people like you! I will also post various events that promote health in an effort to get my readers participate in a more active lifestyle.
My story begins with getting a pacemaker in 1997 at 26 years old. Before the surgery I was very active. I went biking, played softball and basketball on a regular basis. Then after surgery I became depressed and began using my heart problem (diagnosed as syncope) as an excuse for not exercising. My lack of motivation turned my previously healthy lifestyle into one where I was not exercising, eating badly, and gaining weight. I stil get what I call a "slackers attitude" and just want to sit down and rest for a moment. But the next thing you know, that moment turns into minutes, minutes turn to an hour, finally you've watched television or have been facebooking your friends and the day has passed you by. Thankfully, I have a good support system in my husband that sometimes acts as the drill sergeant. He pushes me to meet my goals and fulfill my dreams. My goals, as of now, are to lose 30 pounds and begin my own clothing line.
I will keep you updated on people and events that I think will boost our energy and get us to GYM. My wish is that I will inspire you to exercise, lead a healthier lifestyle and help you maintain motivation to GET YOURSELF MOVING! Breaking bad habits is, quite possibly, the most challenging thing that one can face. Together, we can replace bad habits with good ones. You can develop habits that uplift your spirit and bring you happiness through fitness, good health, and mental clarity.
So get out there and GYM,
Wendy Jo McCutcheon
